Travel Photo Cafe 2008 - a talk about photography and travel

such a pity that i missed an interesting activity. i have bought a few kolos, and planned to work on my wedding and honeymoon albums. :)
Thank you for your tips on taking fun and inspirational shots. A lot of them are already what I'm doing, but there are some new ones I'm going to put into practice. :)
Ah great Beatrice, bought some from city'super? :P I guess even if you have a professionally done wedding album, doing one on the side stories will be interesting, provided you have side stories photos taken by someone.

Ann, yes these are really just basics and many people know already, but to actually practice, some people needed to be liberated :)
Wow. I truly wish I was in NYC to see this. Just to be in NYC, meet you, and talk about such cool stuff would have made me feel so creative. Patrick, do you live in NYC? Or no? I sometimes wish I did. I miss so much in regards to arts, and photography, while living in this small town in Connecticut.

yes, got some from citysuper and a riva from Papyrus. I did buy six or seven scrapbook-like small albums (forgot whether it's called vineyard), so that i could make a little album for my bridesmaids.

i didn't have a professionally done wedding (except for pre-wedding), i got the electronic files from my photographer and a good friend from taiwan, so that i can arrange by myself. looking forward to it.

Lainey, I live in Hong Kong, all these happened in Hong Kong's Times Square :) And sorry to hear about Tillie, must be difficult.

Beatrice, do it fast otherwise you will have not enough time to do this or this or this :)
Patrick, this is a really amazing post. You make me want to go to Hong Kong more and more.

I'm leaving on holidays next week, so your timing couldn't be more perfect. I'm trying to decide whether to continue from the end of my last travel journal or to start a new one (there are a lot of pages left in the old one, but starting a new journal is so much fun). Your ideas are great and inspiring. I especially like the idea of taking pictures of street signs. I've done that in the past, but never thought about the feeling that it provides to your journal.
sheris, we are always tempted to start a new lovely journal, besides new journey new mood deserves a new one. Gives you more reasons to lust for a new journal :)
Oh, that's what I thought.

patrick, i went to log-on yesterday and bought more kolos with my hubby. He loves those albums very much too. so, he was tempted to start a honeymoon journal... :)

Well get him to start right away, otherwise it won't start at all! :P
[this is good]
Patrick these are really brilliant! I wanted to ask you how you do the layouts? Do you cut and paste manually (with scissors and glue?) - or compose in Photoshop then print? I can never seem to get my edges straight or well aligned as you have.

We need a course! :)
Max, 3 of these layouts were done with scissors and glue, a cutting board will do great to help you align the angles. The rest of them I composed on Illustrator, you can do it in Photoshop too. I found that flipping through prints is a lot easier to find great matches for photos in terms of color matching and concept making, you can't do that as easily on a computer.
