Hong Kong Land and Opera Gallery organized an exhibition of world famous sculptors' work in Exchange Square Central. The exhibition ends 30th March 2008, I had a chance to stop by today.
Amedeo Clemento Modigliani died penniless and destitute - managing only one solo exhibition in his life and giving his work away in exchange for meals in restaurants. Since his death his reputation has soared. Nine novels, a play, a documentary and three feature films have been devoted to his life. My father used to sell Chinese painters' works, his advise to me was:
most of us exploit artists' work only after their death, so don't fancy too much being an artist.

Fernando Botero's monumental bronzes have been seen by perplexed strollers along the Champs Elysees in Paris, in front of Palazzo Pitti in Florence, and along Park Avenue in New York. The large figures transform their surroundings into a world of fantasy, as seen in Venice where his bronzes adorned the squares along the Grand Canal, or when his sensuous nudes were mirroed in the reflecting pools in front of the Gemeente museum in The Hauge."
