Film Safe X-ray Not True - Kölner Dom

Every x-ray machine says "film safe" but it is not true, for me. I always bring my Natura Classica to capture great indoor mood using iso 1600 films by Fujifim. During my last trip to Cologne in September, my camera and films went through x-ray machines several times between Hong Kong, Frankfurt, Amsterdam and Cologne. My entire roll was spoiled with all these light stripes; so don't believe what they say, use X-ray protection film bag for higher speed films. Check the Kodak guide about Baggage X-ray Scanning Effect on Film for more info. Damage to lower speed film is virtually non-detectable by human eyes however.

Did u see the movie The Omen? Photographer gets funny lines like these on his photos that appear to be omens that the people in the photos will be killed tragically and soon. Maybe that poor photog just didn't protect his film properly while going thru security...? lol

In my experience, anything over 800 speed is going to be baked by the carry-on scanners but anything under 800 should be fine, and checked baggage...I would never leave film in checked bags. Ever. No matter how slow it was.
