Engraved Moleskine Washed with White Acrylic Paint
This is the last test on laser engraved Moleskine. Thought it was easy to just scrub some white acrylic paint into the grooves and wipe away the extra but turned out the Moleskine oilskin has many "pores" and grabbed the paint so tight it was difficult to remove. Another possible problem with laser engraving on Moleskine is that the skin can peel off easily in certain area of the logo if it is exposed to humid.
In conclusion, it is not easy to get a stable laser engraved logo on Moleskine. Stability depends on the logo design and how deep the laser cut into the cover. Applying paint to the grooves is also difficult. So these are probably reasons why you see methods used on most of the personalized or promotional Moleskine are by debossing, foil blocking and custom sleeve design.
